The Home Program has been wonderful for our agency. Their involvement has allowed us to continue to serve children and adults with challenging behavior. They have been a valuable resource for our participants, staff and families.
This has been the most successful year in my child's life. The year began with calls from school several times per week, and is ending with our child being at the top of the class. A significant factor in that success has been The Home Program's work with me. Our therapist's positive, rewards-oriented approach has been exactly what has been needed in my house. All of my children have benefitted, and I feel like a more capable parent. I am very grateful to The Home Program.
The Home Program is providing exactly the sort of practical, step by step advice we need, as parents of a non communicative child, to cope with our child's behavioral problems. Our therapist's training techniques are helping our child learn to control her behavior in ways a cognitively impaired 6 year old can understand. And she enjoys it!
Our family cannot express how grateful we feel to have found The Home Program. You showed us how to work through our challenges and support each other and, most importantly, our daughter.
The Home Program is a luxury and it helps the process that the therapist comes to our home. This helps the therapist understand the child's environment better and it makes meeting appointments much easier. I was afraid to start for several reasons. One is that I had given up the idea that my child was trainable, at least without the level of commitment only Annie Sullivan could muster. I had behaviorists before with unrealistic expectations and every visit just made me feel guilty for what I had not done. Our therapist is very resourceful in inventing new approaches when the last one fails. She understands the inner workings of motivation and reward on my son's level. I do not feel scolded as I had in the past. I see real progress in my son and have learned that he is trainable.
Our therapist is always helpful and willing to help with any situation regarding my child's behavior. I have recommended The Home Program to several families.
The Home Program was very helpful in getting our child toilet trained. When our therapist started working with our family, I did not believe my child would be potty trained within a reasonable period of time. But with our therapist's confidence and persistence, our child is now completely independent as far as toileting goes. I will forever be indebted to The Home Program for helping us navigate this autism maze and deal with different behaviors my child displayed at different times. Thank you.
My sons were diagnosed with Selective Mutism, a physiologically-based anxiety disorder which is manifested by lack of speaking in school and other settings. The Home Program worked with the boys both at home and at nursery school, helping them to have eye contact and express certain needs. In this way, my sons began to experience a much larger part of their world.
